HR Advisor

Due to a maternity leave John Clark Motor Group has a vacancy for an experienced HR Advisor to join their busy HR team based in Dundee or Perth.
The HR Advisor plays a key role in supporting the smooth and efficient delivery of HR services across the Group. This role provides essential support in recruitment, onboarding, employee administration, and HR operations, ensuring a high-quality experience for candidates, new starters, managers, and employees. The postholder will operate in a fast-paced environment, maintaining accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality at all times.
We require a flexible individual who can manage their time efficiently whilst covering a number of key areas:
1. Recruitment Support
- Assist with the talent acquisition process, including advertising vacancies, screening CVs, and supporting managers through the recruitment workflow.
- Ensure all job adverts, job descriptions, and recruitment documentation are accurate, current, and aligned with business needs.
- Support with Overseas technician hiring.
- Maintain communication with candidates and managers to ensure a consistent and professional candidate experience.
2. Onboarding & New Starter Administration
- Manage the full onboarding lifecycle, preparing offer letters, contracts, job descriptions, and associated documents.
- Ensure all legal and compliance requirements—such as right-to-work and driving licence checks—are completed accurately and on time.
- Submit new starter information to Payroll within required deadlines.
- Conduct 2 weekly welcome/check-in calls to support early engagement and ensure a smooth transition into the business.
3. HR Administration
- Maintain accurate and confidential HR records, ensuring employee files and HR systems are always up to date.
- Process changes to terms and conditions including internal moves, salary amendments, and updated working arrangements.
- Support with the administration of the probationary review process, tracking due dates, reporting, ensuring timely documentation from managers and escalating as appropriate.
4. HR Helpdesk & Employee Support
- Act as a first point of contact for general employee HR queries via the central HR Helpdesk, providing timely and accurate responses.
- Escalate more complex matters to the appropriate HR Business Partner or specialist.
5. HR Advice
- Advise and upskill managers in relation to all HR processes to ensure they are completed in line with company policy, employment legislation, GDPR, and internal service deadlines.
- Taking ownership for specific projects; responsible for all actions, implementation and delivery as allocated.
- Support with absence management, case management, investigations, disciplinaries and grievances as needed.
Skills, Experience & Attributes

Essential
- Previous experience in an HR administrative or Advisor role, ideally in a high-volume or fast-paced environment.
- Strong administrative capability with excellent organisation, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritise competing demands.
- Good understanding of employment legislation.
- Proficient IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and professional approach.
- Demonstrable ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Experience within the automotive industry preferred
